Finance & Grant Work
“The XARTS Fund supports the development and execution of collaborative, multi-disciplinary, artistic projects to be implemented during winter term or summer by students in both the College of Arts & Sciences and the Conservatory of Music. Individual or group projects that demonstrate creative and focused cross-disciplinary endeavors will be awarded grants of up to $4,000.”

Dance Umbrella provides opportunities for dancers through the allocation of money for dance related needs that are not sponsored by the department. Because most of this occurs through Ad Hoc, the primary purpose of semester budgeting is to secure funding for Student Dance Showcase.
Student Dance Showcase provides an essential interface between the dance community and campus by featuring a wide range of performances by student dance groups, aerialists, soloists, and exco classes. This highlights a diverse array of dance forms and brings together students from all divisions of the college as both performers and audience members in a well-attended, supportive and high energy space. In addition to representing typically disparate factions of the dance community, because Student Dance Showcase does not require an audition, has a relatively short tech schedule, and provides free tickets, it is one of the most accessible performances on campus.
The dance community at Oberlin is large and rich but is not always visible or cohesive. Student Dance Showcase is the primary opportunity for all areas of the dance community to come together and expose Oberlin to their work.
